(1) आगे-पीछे होने के कारण धरती में कंपन-यह क्रिया धरती में से कंपन तरंगों के गुज़रने से होती है।
(2) धरातल में कंपन के कारण मिट्टी का कमज़ोर होना तथा भू-स्खलन।
(3) धरातल में दरारें पड़ना।
(4) सागरों में सुनामी लहरें उत्पन्न होना जो तटीय प्रदेशों में भारी विनाश करती हैं।
