उत्तर

भूकंप आने से भूमि में कंपन उत्पन्न होता है जिसका भवनों, पर विनाशकारी प्रभाव पड़ता है । यदि भवन उचित ढंग से बनाये गए हों। तो मनुष्य विनाश से बच सकता है। परंतु गलत ढंग से बने मकान ध्वस्त हो जाते हैं और जन-धन का भारी विनाश होता है। कुछ भवनों में बड़ी-बड़ी दरारें पड़ जाती हैं जो शीघ्र ही गिर जाते हैं। इसीलिए यह कह जाता है कि  लोगों की जान भूकंप नहीं अपितु ग़लत ढंग से बनाए गए मकान लेते हैं।

Earthquake causes vibrations in the ground, which have a devastating effect on buildings. If the buildings are properly constructed. So man can be saved from destruction.                                                                                                   

  But the wrongly built houses get demolished and there is huge destruction of public and money. Some buildings develop large cracks that quickly collapse. That is why it is said that it is not earthquakes that take people's lives but wrongly built houses.
